Gene Kamarasy brings over 30 years of accomplished financial leadership to his role as CFO of the Tennessee Risk Management Trust. Joining TNRMT in May 2024, Gene oversees the Trust’s financial operations, investment of its reserves portfolio, and forecasting/analysis.

A primary responsibility is preserving and growing TNRMT’s financial reserves to ensure sufficient funds are available to pay potential large claims. Gene prudently manages the reserves portfolio, implementing strategies to generate returns which try to outpace inflation.

Gene previously served as a CFO Engagement Partner at Tatum, providing interim CFO leadership and strategic advisory nationally. His background in financial modeling, refining accounting processes, and leveraging NetSuite ERP systems will benefit TNRMT as it stays abreast of changes in the insurance landscape and the technology which supports the high level of customer service which TNRMT strives to provide its members.

Gene holds an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and a BS in Economics/Computer Science from Vanderbilt. Giving back is important- Gene serves on the Board of Directors of American Covenant Senior Housing Foundation, a not for profit which provides affordable housing to veterans and seniors where he is also on the Audit Committee. He is an active supporter of the Boy Scouts.

“It is a pleasure to join such a well-run organization helping keep rising costs in check for our Tennessee Schools and government entities,” Gene said. “My father was an educator. Because of this, I am deeply committed to serving the Tennessee academic community by helping to reduce risk at our public schools which are so instrumental in developing Tennessee’s future leaders.”
