TNRMT is committed to ensuring that all your public entities assets are properly protected. We can only do so when we are notified of changes to your facilities. It is critical that members report any new buildings, renovations, additions, or athletic field installations—including turf fields—to TNRMT as soon as they are completed.
Why Reporting Matters
- Accurate Coverage
New structures and facilities will change your total insured value. Without notifying TNRMT, these assets may not be covered in the event of a loss. This is not something we would ever want to occur. A million-dollar turf field, for example, is a major investment that must be recorded on your property schedule. - Risk Assessment and Safety Planning
Some structures and materials pose unique risks. Synthetic turf fields, while durable and beneficial for athletic programs, may also be highly flammable under certain conditions. A recent incident serves as a cautionary tale—embers from a nearby house fire drifted onto an unreported turf field, igniting the surface and causing substantial damage. If we are made aware of such installations, we can help assess fire risks and recommend proactive measures such as fire resistant options. - Ensuring Proper Valuation in the Event of a Loss
If a structure or field is not reported, TNRMT cannot guarantee coverage or reimbursement in the event of a loss.
What You Need to Do
- Report all new buildings, additions, or renovations – Whether it’s a new school wing, maintenance facility, water tower, or portable buildings, these changes should be shared with TNRMT.
- Notify us of athletic field installations – This includes natural and synthetic turf fields, track surfaces, and any major upgrades.
- Implement Fire Safety and Risk Prevention Strategies – For turf fields, ensure that surrounding areas are clear of potential ignition sources.
- Update Your Property Schedule via the NGU Portal – New buildings and facility upgrades should be added to your property schedule through the NGU Portal to ensure coverage.
