The Tennessee Risk Management Trust (TNRMT) strives to ensure that the coverage we provide is as broad and complete as possible to meet our members’ changing needs. One of the many coverages we provide is incidental medical malpractice, designed to protect our members and employed nurses.

It has come to our attention that some members are utilizing staffing agencies or other outside providers for medical staff, either as substitutes or on a permanent basis. As your risk manager, TNRMT is obliged to notify members of potential coverage gaps that may leave you vulnerable to certain exposures or losses that are not covered. TNRMT does not extend coverage to these staffing agencies non-employees or other vendors who are, by definition, contractors. We caution you to verify that medical malpractice coverage is provided by these vendors, in addition to the standard coverages which include workers compensation, general liability, and auto liability. Ideally, your district should be named as an additional insured by these and all vendors.
